A Royal Heritage Retreat in the Heart of Rajasthan
Nestled in the historic town of Deogarh in Rajasthan's Mewar region, Dev Shree Deogarh is far more than a luxury heritage retreat. It is a living expression of Rajput history, family legacy and timeless hospitality, where centuries of tradition blend seamlessly with contemporary comfort.
As one of Trend Holidays' Trusted Local Partners, Dev Shree Deogarh offers discerning travellers an authentic opportunity to experience Rajasthan beyond its famous cities. Here, every courtyard, carved stone pillar and tranquil lakeside view tells a story that has been passed down through generations of the Chundawat family, one of Mewar's most respected noble lineages.

Six Centuries of Legacy
The story of Deogarh begins with the Chundawat clan, hereditary nobles of Mewar whose loyalty to the House of Udaipur earned them one of the region's most distinguished titles. For more than six hundred years, this family has shaped the fortunes of the town — building its fort, endowing its temples and guarding the trade routes that crossed the Aravalli hills.
Dev Shree is the family's private residence, opened to a small number of guests so that the traditions, artefacts and stories held within its walls can be shared rather than shut away. Portraits, arms, miniature paintings and heirlooms are not museum pieces here; they remain part of a home that is still lived in.

A Home, Not a Hotel
Sensitively restored rather than rebuilt, Dev Shree retains the intimacy of a family home. Just a handful of suites open onto shaded courtyards, terraces and a garden pool, each individually furnished with antiques, hand-blocked textiles and locally crafted furniture.
Modern comfort is present but never intrusive — air conditioning, contemporary bathrooms and thoughtful lighting sit quietly within lime-plastered walls, arched alcoves and original stone floors.

Craft & Detail
Jharokha balconies, scalloped arches, chhatri pavilions and delicately carved jaali screens define the silhouette of Dev Shree. Rajput strength meets Indo-Islamic refinement — thick stone walls that keep interiors cool, frescoed niches, mirrored alcoves and courtyards designed to catch every breeze.

Hosted by the Family
Guests are welcomed as visitors to a private home. The family and a small, long-serving team host meals, share the history of the house and arrange each day around your interests rather than a fixed programme.
Dining is a highlight — traditional Mewari and royal Rajasthani dishes prepared from family recipes and served in the courtyard, on the terrace or beside the lake, often accompanied by stories that stretch back generations.
